The New England Medical Association (NEMA) is a Boston-based organization designed to build a community of black physicians and physicians in training, who are practicing in the New England area. NEMA is dedicated to creating a community that will provide career development opportunities, a robust mentoring program, service through community-based projects, and advocacy to eliminate disparities.
We are an affiliate of the National Medical Association. We received our 501(c)3 designation last year and have been working to build our organization. Over the past year, we have partnered with academic institutions such as Tufts, BMC, and BI-Lahey and Vertex.
Our mission is to help members achieve their career goals for promotion and retention of black physicians, increase diversity in healthcare, healthcare leadership, and participate in pipeline programs to ultimately improve health care delivery.
To serve as a collective voice for Black physicians in the New England area and to promote the interest of our members. To be advocates for health equity and justice in medicine with a focus on eliminating disparities across the entire health care system.
We aim to partnering with key stakeholders to uphold our mission and the interest of our members for the betterment of healthcare.
