Vonzella Bryant, MD

Board certified Emergency Medicine Physician and Vice President of Operations of New England Medical Association

Dr. Vonzella Bryant is a board certified emergency medicine physician. She is Vice President of Operations of New England Medical Association (NEMA) which serves as the collective voice of black physicians in the New England area. She graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans in 1996 and went on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine for her medical degree. She completed her emergency medicine residency/training at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 2003. Vonzella moved to Boston in 2004, working in the emergency department at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. In 2017, she transitioned to the academic setting at the safety net hospital and the busiest Level 1 trauma center in the Boston area, Boston Medical Center (BMC) where she not only works as an emergency physician, but is also the emergency medicine clerkship director and Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at Boston University (BU) School of Medicine. Vonzella has presented on increasing diversity in emergency medicine at multiple national conferences. Because of her work being on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic, she earned a spot on the US News & World Report list of “Hospital Heros” with Drs. Fauci and Gupta and was selected to be a Celtics “Hero Among Us.”
